Asante Kotoko have confirmed an invitation from the Office of the President to play perennial rivals Hearts of Oak on May 1, 2017 in Accra in a friendly.
The match, which is part of activities marking Ghana’s 60th independence anniversary, would be played on a home and away basis.
A portion of the letter signed by the Director of Operations at the Presidency, Lord Commey reads:
”We have been directed by the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, to organise a football match between Ghana’s two most glamorous clubs, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak.
“The first leg is scheduled for May 1, 2017 at the Accra Sports Stadium; the date for the return fixture will be communicated to you in due course.”
