Vice president of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Alex Akummey, has confirmed his outfit is putting together a novelty competition for clubs that will express interest.
The league, according to him, will run for a three-month period as the clubs await the institution of the Normalization Committee and their works.
The Zylofon Cash Premier League has been put on hold since June this year following the Anas Expose and the welfare body says the novelty competition is meant to keep clubs in shape.
“It is true we are going to have a competition for the clubs and it is optional. Currently, we have written to the clubs and waiting till the deadline tomorrow to know the number of clubs that will be interested in participating”, Akummey explained.
Mr Akummey has indicated that the novel competition will not drag beyond January next year because they believe the Normalization Committee would ’ve come up with a roadmap for the resuscitation of the league by then and the number of sponsors they are able to get on board will determine how much each club will receive for participating.
“At the moment, we only have StarTimes on board as sponsors and we are hoping to get more so we get enough money for the clubs that will agree to play. We expect the normalization committee to come out with a roadmap by the end of this competition”.
