The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has expressed that the tragic incident at Nsoatre, which resulted in the death of an Asante Kotoko fan, could have been avoided with better security measures.

The unfortunate event escalated into violent clashes involving players and officials, ultimately leading to the death of Nana Pooley.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite, Asante Twum stressed the need for stricter security protocols and proper ambulance services at match venues.

He also criticized the Match Commissioner and security personnel, holding them accountable for ensuring safety.

“The incident at Nsoatre could have been prevented with better security arrangements and the presence of a well-equipped ambulance service,” he stated.

“If the right safety measures had been in place, this tragedy would not have occurred. Moving forward, the GFA will prioritize security at all match venues,” he added.

He further highlighted how inadequate security arrangements and the absence of immediate medical assistance contributed to the unfortunate outcome.

In response, the leadership of the Ghana Football Association has engaged with Premier League clubs to implement stricter safety measures at match venues, ensuring the protection of players, officials, and fans alike.
