Former Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Football Association, Randy Abbey has said the association has not demonstrated enough resolve to fight corruption.
His statement comes after several officials involved in the Ghana Premier League and the media made numerous allegations and reports of match fixing, bribery and corruption, raising questions in football in the country.
The former Hearts of Oak PRO further stated that, the Ethics Committee of the GFA should do more than they are doing, and also create an environment for people to see that they are interested in dealing with the issues that are before them.
“Some of these things will come up but it is how you deal with it, the commitment to deal with them and how you decide to change things as well as the kind of environment you create for people to see that you are interested in dealing l with the issues .That is what will engender confidence in the Ghana Premier League to attract sponsors”, he said on the Friday edition of Ultimate Sports on Asempa FM.
“The significant thing is that the main actors involved in the game are making accusations as well as people who are at the highest level, members of the GFA Executive committee making accusations and counter accusations .So for the neutrals out there everything they hear is the truth and wouldn’t want any confirmation because the people they expect to solve the issues are those who are making the allegations. So in this case what other evidence do they need to start dealing with the issues before them? He added.
