The Club Licensing Department of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has granted approval to just four stadiums for the upcoming 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
Following a preliminary inspection in August 2024, only the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Dun’s Park, and WAFA Park met the required infrastructure standards.
Despite its recent opening, the new TNA Stadium, with a 13,000-capacity and a $16 million price tag, has not yet received full approval. The stadium lacks an inner perimeter, a necessary feature for complete accreditation.
Similarly, the Baba Yara Stadium and the Accra Sports Stadium, the two largest venues in the country, are also on a conditional approval list and awaiting full accreditation.
Other stadiums that did not meet the licensing criteria have been provided with reports outlining the necessary improvements to achieve compliance.
A re-inspection of all venues is scheduled for August 30, 2024, to address any remaining issues and potentially grant full approval before the season starts.
The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League is set to begin on September 6.
