A member of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Randy Abbey has confirmed that discussions are ongoing to extend their partnership with betPawa for another year.
The betting company had signed a three-year agreement with the GFA but unexpectedly ended the contract halfway through the 2023/24 football season.
This sudden withdrawal led to concerns about the future of their collaboration.
However, Dr Abbey has reassured that these concerns are being addressed.
As preparations for the 2024/25 Ghana football season are underway, Dr Abbey has revealed that, negotiations to renew the deal are in progress.
“It was initially a one-year partnership with an option for renewal, and both parties have expressed interest in continuing. We’ve made significant progress in our discussions,” Dr Abbey told JoySports.
“I believe we’re close to finalizing the agreement, and within the next few days, both parties should be able to announce the details. We are set to renew the partnership for another year,” he added.
The new Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on September 6.
