GFA to ‘arrest’ referees who fix matches

-

Chairman of the Premier League Management Committee, Alhaji MND Jawula, has promised that his outfit will make sure manipulation of football matches by referees becomes a thing of the past.

The GFA is, thus, ready to arrest the canker of corrupt referees fixing matches to destroy the game.

The former Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss said this when the GFA met the media Wednesday at a press conference with the Premier League Management Committee at the GFA Secretariat.

“The results of matches being predetermined by a bad referee who is going to fix penalties and do all manner of things will deter people from coming to the stadium. Our committee will do the right thing to make sure that only good referees are seen on the field of play. I know there have been many training proposals and I know they intend to have so many courses for the referees,” he said.

“The referees know everybody is talking about their performance and they have to sit up,” he added.

The press conference was to promote positive interactions between members of the Committee and the sports media to use the opportunity to outline its policies to the media ahead of the start of the Ghana Premier League season on December 27-29, 2019.
