The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has unveiled the fixtures for the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League season.
The new campaign kicks off on Friday, September 6, 2024, marking 82 days since the end of the previous season.
Defending champions FC Samartex 1996 will begin their title defense with an away match against Dreams FC.
In other opening fixtures, Hearts of Oak will face newly promoted Basake Holy Stars at home, while Asante Kotoko SC will travel to Karela United.
The first matchday promises excitement, featuring former champions Medeama taking on last season’s second-place team, Accra Lions.
Newly promoted Vision FC will host Berekum Chelsea, Nsoatreman FC will battle Young Apostles at home, Aduana Stars will go up against Heart of Lions, Gold Stars FC will entertain Legon Cities, and Nations FC will face Bechem United.
The first leg of the highly anticipated Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak is scheduled for Matchday 13 at Baba Yara Stadium, with the return match set for Matchday 30.
Nsoatreman FC will host Berekum Chelsea on Matchday 3, Bechem United on Matchday 9, and Aduana Stars on Matchday 11 in a series of Brong Ahafo derbies.
Aduana Stars will also face Bechem United on Matchday 2 and 19, while Berekum Chelsea will take on Bechem United on Matchday 11. These matches are expected to be a highlight of the regional rivalries.
Medeama SC will meet Basake Holy Stars in the Western derby on Matchdays 4 and 21, and FC Samartex will also face Gold Stars FC in another Western derby on Matchdays 2 and 19. The Ashanti derby between Asante Kotoko SC and Nations FC will occur on Matchdays 11 and 28.
The season will conclude with key fixtures including FC Samartex 1996 traveling to Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko visiting debutants Vision FC, and Medeama hosting Berekum Chelsea in the final round of matches.
The season opens on the weekend from Friday, September 6, 2024, to Monday, September 9, 2024, across all Premier League venues.
The 2024-25 season will run for 34 weekends and will conclude on Sunday, June 8, 2025, with no official midweek matches to reduce travel burdens on clubs.
There will be a one-week break in December for the National Elections, allowing players and officials to fulfill their civic duties. Fans are eagerly anticipating the new season, with hopes high for securing the title, qualifying for Africa, or simply maintaining Premier League status.
