Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has expressed confidence that the much-anticipated showdown between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko could serve as a powerful unifying force for the nation.

The two historic rivals are set to lock horns this Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium in a Matchday 30 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

Speaking to Asempa FM ahead of the blockbuster encounter, Okraku highlighted the significance of the match beyond the pitch.

“It is a game with a lot of interest. It is a game that unites all of us and inspires us in equal measure. I wish both teams the best of luck,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

Asante Kotoko, who edged out Hearts of Oak with a 1-0 win in the first round in Kumasi, will be eyeing a league double over their rivals.

Heading into the Super Clash, Kotoko sit fourth on the league table with 50 points—just three shy of current leaders GoldStars—while Hearts of Oak occupy sixth place with 45 points.”
