GFA has threatened to relegate my team for speaking about officiating – Samuel Anim Addo

Samuel Anim Addo, the owner and financier of Young Apostles, has revealed that he has been threatened with his team’s relegation for criticizing referee Maxwell Hanson.

Anim Addo took to social media to accuse Hanson of being a “man for dirty works” following Accra Lions’ complaints about his officiating in their 1-0 loss to Dreams FC on Matchday 16 at Tuba Astro Turf.

After the match, Accra Lions expressed frustration, claiming they were unfairly treated and calling for reforms in officiating.

In response, Dreams FC defended the referee, arguing that poor officiating is something all clubs have experienced at one point or another.

Anim Addo, a former Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), slammed both Maxwell Hanson and the GFA for their lack of action regarding the quality of officiating.

“Maxwell Hanson is their man for ‘dirty works,’” Anim Addo wrote. “I sounded the alarm bells months ago but I was vehemently challenged with every attempt to ‘shush’ me by the leadership of Ghana Football… His disgraceful conduct undermines the league’s quality.”

Additionally, Anim Addo alleged that he had been repeatedly threatened with relegation for his outspoken criticism.

He warned, “I have been threatened many times already that this GFA administration will ensure foul means to relegate my club, Young Apostles. But, I want to sound caution to them, that, it is not the worst they can do to me and my continuous investment and commitment to Ghana football.”

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not yet responded to the allegations made by Accra Lions.
