GFA fines Hearts of Oak over security breach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has fined Hearts of Oak following a security breach during their match against Young Apostles.

The incident happened on March 8 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium when unaccredited individuals, specifically supporters, entered a restricted safety zone after Hearts of Oak’s 2-0 victory.

As a result, the club has been fined GHS 20,000, with GHS 10,000 of the amount suspended for the remainder of the season, the GFA announced on Tuesday, March 25.

The GFA also warned that any future misconduct would attract stricter sanctions.

Ahead of the league’s resumption, the GFA introduced stricter matchday protocols to enhance security, but the Accra-based club was found to have violated these measures.
