Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has announced that Dr. Randy Abbey has joined the Black Stars Management Committee.
This decision follows the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), finishing last in Group F with just three points.
According to Asante Twum, the move is part of a broader review of the team’s performance after their group-stage exit at the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast— their second consecutive group-stage elimination.
“Randy Abbey has joined the Black Stars Management Committee,” Asante Twum confirmed in an interview with Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.
He added, “After the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast, there were some reviews of the team’s performance, so the FA decided to retain Mark Addo, Akwesi Agyeman, and now Randy Abbey has joined the Management Committee.”
Mark Addo continues to serve as Chairman of the Management Committee.
Dr. Randy Abbey, a member of the GFA Executive Council, also holds the position of Management Committee Chairman for the Black Satellites.
