GES begins 2024 school selection process for BECE candidates

-

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has commenced the 2024 school selection process for candidates of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The process, which began on Thursday, August 28, will run until September 4, 2024.

In a statement signed by Mr. Prince Agyemang-Duah, Acting Director of the Schools and Instruction Division, parents and guardians are urged to actively engage in the selection process to ensure a seamless placement for their wards.

This year, a total of 570,461 BECE candidates will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. Additionally, candidates can opt for STEM subjects, including biomedical science, engineering science, and agriculture.

To promote transparency and adherence to the guidelines, GES headquarters officials will supervise the selection exercise nationwide.

Regional Directors of Education have been directed to inform stakeholders of the selection process dates.

In a new development, candidates will be able to confirm their school choices via a short code, details of which will be provided later.

Two phone lines have also been made available for parents, students, and stakeholders to resolve any issues that may arise during the selection process.
