George Afriyie kicks against Kurt Okraku’s potential third-term bid

Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has expressed strong opposition to Kurt Okraku’s potential intentions to seek a third term as GFA President.

Reports in the local media suggest that Mr Okraku is considering running for a third term, with discussions allegedly underway to amend the GFA statutes to enable this.

Reacting to the speculation, Mr Afriyie voiced his determination to prevent such a move.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, he said, “Kurt Okraku should forget about the amendment to go for a third term.”

Afriyie revealed plans to take concrete action, including appealing directly to the government. “I will personally write a petition to the government of Ghana to stop him from going for a third term,” he stated.

The seasoned football administrator also emphasized his intention to rally support from stakeholders in the football community.

“I will approach every club owner to explain to them why Kurt Okraku can’t go for a third term,” Afriyie added, signalling a broader campaign to challenge the potential bid.
