Acclaimed filmmaker, Genevieve Nnaji has expressed her profound sorrow and heartfelt condolences over the passing of Nigerian music legend, Onyeka Onwenu.
In a heartfelt tribute, Genevieve reflected on the impact Onwenu had on her life and career, as well as the cultural landscape of Nigeria.
She described her admiration for the late veteran actress, explaining that her own film “LionHeart” was inspired by a desire to honour and celebrate the legends who shaped her childhood with their artistry.
Genevieve also shared her gratitude for having the opportunity to work with Onwenu and the meaningful and unforgettable moments they created together.
“I am so grateful she accorded me the opportunity, honour, and privilege to share time and space with her. We created iconic moments that will forever be entrenched in my mind and photo memories,” she wrote.
“My tears won’t stop falling because writing this tribute means I can’t live in delusion for a few more hours. That this is not a bad dream I will be waking up from”.
