GBC provides breakdown of invoices for coverage of 13 African Games

-

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has provided invoices for payments made to third-party vendors who assisted in covering the 13th African Games.

This disclosure follows remarks made by the Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, during his appearance before the Public Accounts Committee on Monday, August 19, 2024. He confirmed that over $3 million had been paid to the state broadcaster.

However, GBC’s Director General, Prof. Amin Alhassan, clarified in an interview on Uniiq FM on Tuesday, August 20, that the corporation received only $105,000 for their services.

In response, the Sports Ministry issued a statement clarifying the financial details of the contract. According to the statement, $2.5 million of the total contract amount was paid directly to GBC on March 13, 2024, and May 22, 2024.

The remaining $1 million was paid to third parties at the direction of GBC.

Following the Sports Ministry’s statement, GBC provided invoices detailing payments made to third parties who contributed to the coverage of the African Games, which took place between February and March of this year.
