The Chief Executive Officer of Kencity Media Limited, Stella Agyapong has given chilling account of what led to the sudden demise of the station’s videographer, Mohammed Ashley.
According to her, the deceased was attached to the presidency was the one who reportedly fell to his death from the flyover at Atomic junction after a gas explosion.
Mrs. Agyapong revealed this when management of Kencity media operators of NET 2 TV and Oman FM, officially informed President Nana Akufo-Addo of the demise of their beloved on Monday.
She indicated the late Mohammed was filming the incident from the overpass with a miniature camera after the first explosion but the force of the second explosion caused him to fall from the top to the ground.
Mrs. Agyapong said he died on the spot after landing with his head straight to the ground.
“When we visited the morgue, we saw him burnt beyond recognition with a crack on his forehead. It is so sad” she bemoaned.
President Akufo Addo pledged to take up the cost of the funeral and other expenses Ashley’s family will incur.
Mohammed Ashley, a Muslim, will be buried Tuesday October 10, 2017.
The late Ashley was a reporter (Camera Man) at Net 2, an Accra-based television station.
Chief Executive Officer of Ken City, Stella Agyapong eulogized the late reporter.
“Mohammed being a camera man took the other direction when everyone was running in the opposite direction so he could get footage. We went to the morgue to see him and he was severely burnt, ” she lamented.
Mohammed is not married and has no kids. He is the second of seven children.
Meanwhile, a total of seven people perished, whereas 132 others sustained various degrees of injury. Six of the dead are yet to be identified.
