Three accused persons were on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, arraigned before the Mpraeso Circuit Court for their involvement in illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey, in the Eastern Region.
They have been identified as Freeman Kwafo, Augustine Asoma, and Bawa Muhammed.
The trio was arrested by some youth of Akoase in the Eastern Region on March 21, 2025, and handed over to the police.
In a statement, the police said all three accused persons have been granted bail by the court and are expected to reappear on April 25, 2025.
Meanwhile, an investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the alleged release of two Chinese suspects who were said to have been arrested together with the three accused persons.
