Galamsey: 7 arraigned before Sekondi Special Court

The Western-Central Regional Police Command has arraigned seven people before the Special Court for Illegal Mining in Sekondi.

The accused persons are Ibrahim Dauda, Michael Tettey Komlorm, Douglas Ayambila, Elvis Aborta, Nsoh Oto alias Agorogo, Kwadwo George alias Sergio, and Emmanuel Van alias Atta.

They have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and undertaking mining activities without a license.

In a statement, the Police noted that the accused have been remanded into prison custody and are expected to reappear before the court on April 17, 2025.

Meanwhile, two more Chinese nationals, Huan Ciongjian (38) and Ling Yong (56), have also been arrested for illegal mining along the Bonsa River banks.

The Police stated that all foreign nationals arrested have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service.
