Fulfil your promises to DKM customers – Mahama charges NPP

-

Former President John Mahama has charged the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to fulfil its promise to those who lost their money in the DKM scandal which hit the Brong Ahafo region.

He said the governing party prior to the 2016 election promised it was going to retrieve monies of customers who lost their savings after investing with the microfinance company.

“When we were in office, the NPP lied that DKM belongs to my wife and I. Today you are in power and you know who DKM belongs to.

“You promised that you will collect the people’s money for them when you come into power; please collect their DKM money and give it back to them”, Mr Mahama said.

He said this while addressing delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Wamfie in the Dormaa East constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region Saturday.

According to Mr Mahama, who is seeking to lead the opposition NDC into the 2020 election, he is surprised that nearly two years into the NPP administration, the promise is yet to be fulfilled.

Regarding the country’s economic conditions, he said Ghanaians are looking up to the NDC to redeem them from the present hardship.

Mr Mahama is, therefore, urging NDC members and supporters to unite and work hard to bring the party back to power in the 2020 elections.

Sounding confident of victory for the NDC in the 2020 presidential election, former president Mahama promised to work hard to reduce the high cost of living in the country as well as provide jobs, when elected.
