President of Imani Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has defended the National Economic Dialogue, stressing its role in tackling Ghana’s economic challenges and shaping sustainable growth strategies.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue on Saturday, March 8, he emphasized that the dialogue provides a crucial platform for leaders to update citizens on economic difficulties and outline solutions, fostering hope and public trust.
Cudjoe referenced the Senchi Economic Forum, noting that its homegrown solutions contributed significantly to Ghana’s economic recovery under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.
“The last dialogue the NDC had—not because I was part of it, but because I saw real value—produced solutions that fed into the IMF program. Yet, my friends in the NPP dismissed it after making grand claims about public sector reforms,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ishmael Yamson, Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue, has attributed most of Ghana’s economic woes to self-inflicted issues.
He cautioned that resetting the economy, as promised by President John Dramani Mahama, would be a challenging process, urging Ghanaians to remain patient and committed to the necessary reforms.
