Frank Lampard dismisses speculation over Brandon Thomas-Asante’s potential exit from Coventry City

Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has downplayed speculation linking striker Brandon Thomas-Asante with a move to other Championship clubs.

The 26-year-old Ghanaian international, who joined Coventry from West Bromwich Albion in the summer, has started only eight league games this season.

Recent reports suggest that Thomas-Asante has drawn interest from Blackburn Rovers, while Stoke City—managed by former Coventry boss Mark Robins, the man who brought him to the Sky Blues—has also been mentioned as a potential destination.

However, Lampard has dismissed the rumours, stating that he is unaware of any ongoing transfer discussions involving the forward.

“Not as far as I’m concerned,” he told BBC CWR. “He’s our player and remains so.”

“We get linked with a lot of players, half of which I know are nonsense. The rumour mill and what actually happens are two different things.”

“At the minute, it doesn’t mean anything to me other than we know we’re missing three very important players, so we have to get every ounce out of the squad we’ve got. If we can improve it, we’ll try and do that,” he added.

Thomas-Asante recently proved his value by scoring the decisive goal in Coventry City’s 1-0 victory over Bristol City.
