Four communities in Afigya Kwabre North District decry lack of access to electricity

Four farming communities in Afigya Kwabre North District of the Ashanti Region are faced with a longstanding problem in electricity supply.

Residents of Amponsahkrom, Prabon, Hobesu, and Kofifofiekrom communities say the situation is adversely impacting their lives.

Healthcare professionals manning CHPS compound of the communities are particularly concerned about the lack of electricity in the area.

This is impacting their ability to provide optimal care for patients, especially during the night.

Addressing the electricity supply could significantly enhance their working conditions and ensure better patient outcomes.

Health worker, Richard Amankwa, says access to the internet has been challenging, which has hindered their ability to process documents, including NHIS.

He says the issue is further compounded by the electricity limitations.

Local assembly member, Emmanuel Nomenyo Kwabena, says the Electricity Company of Ghana has installed power lines that connect four communities to the national grid.

However, it appears that some unknown individuals have removed the electricity poles and wires.

He expressed a desire for the government and the electricity company to collaborate and take action to address the concerns of the communities.
