Former deputy Gender Minister sues husband for bigamy

-

Former Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection under the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC), Rachel Nana Adjoa Appoh, has sued her husband, Samuel Poku, for allegedly marrying another woman in Canada even though they are still legally married in Ghana.

Sources say Ms. Appoh, who had strained relationship with her boss Nana Oye Lithur at the Gender Ministry, has dragged her husband to the matrimonial court in Accra to answer questions on why he decided to marry another woman in Canada.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the new woman is a Jamaican-Canadian called Vanessa Sylvan who is believed to be living in Canada.

Sylvan posted a picture of her and Nana Poku on March 28, 2017, with the caption “Married to Nana Poku.”

Nana Poku shared a picture of himself, the new wife and young boy, apparently their child, with the caption “Family Vacation.”

Ms Appoh and Nana Poku got married in 2013 but the man is currently said to be ‘enjoying’ with his new wife in Canada.

Fake Certificate

Sources close to the family of Ms. Appoh indicated that her estranged husband was able to terminate their marriage after he allegedly obtained ‘fake’ divorce documents in Ghana in 2015.

The documents, which helped Nana Poku to terminate the marriage, were reportedly signed by a Director at Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The former deputy minister, who served under ex-president John Mahama, has reportedly sued the judge, who annulled the marriage without her consent.

Private Affair

Interestingly, Ms. Appoh has refused to comment on the issue in the media, describing it as a “private affair.”

She has not confirmed or denied the fact that her husband has ‘dumped’ her for another woman in Canada.
