Felix Ofosu Kwakye, former Deputy Minister of Communications

Former Deputy Communications Minister, Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, says the Akufo-Addo-led government is very nepotistic.

According to the politician, the president deceived Ghanaians when he said his government would be devoid of nepotism.

“I remember Nana Akufo- Addo on 17th December stood at the  Kumasi Sports Stadium and said his government will not be a family and friends government, so we were expecting that we will not see that when he comes to power,” he recounted.

Speaking on Adom TV’s morning show, Badwam, he stated that the energy sector is suffering from nepotism that is why Ghanaians are complaining.

“This Power Distribution Service (PDS) arrangement is not legit, why should you give a greater portion to an organisation that doesn’t have a background or a track record?

“All those who were appointed under this arrangement have a common denominator that is the New Patriotic Party (NPP). They wouldn’t have gotten these opportunities if not for NPP,” he noted.

He added that there is no problem if contracts are given to competent family members and friends who are well versed in their areas of work, but it gets suspicious if opportunities are consistently given to a group of people.

“We have people who are well versed in their area of work who are NPP, that will not spark any controversy when they are given specific jobs.

“I am not saying if your friend or family is president you do not qualify to have a position or to be appointed to a specific area, all I am saying is that they should have a track record or be experts in the area of work,” avisded.
