Foreign Affairs Ministry issues red alert to Ghanaians in Lebanon

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has asked Ghanaians in Lebanon to be cautious amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
The Ministry has said the rapidly unfolding crisis in Lebanon and its potential danger to Ghanaians living in that country, is a matter of great concern to the government.

Considering the deteriorating situation, the Ministry has in a statement encouraged all Ghanaian nationals to take advantage of the limited available flights in Lebanon to immediately leave the country.

All Ghanaians nationals have been advised to act promptly on this advice to avoid any emergencies.

“Towards this end, the government wishes to encourage Ghanaians living there who may not have travel documents to contact the Embassy of Ghana in Cairo, Egypt or the Ghana Honorary Consulate in Beirut, Lebanon to obtain Emergency Travel Certificates,” the statement advised.

Those who may require assistance to obtain exit permits have also been directed to contact the Embassy or the Consulate through the following contacts:

According to the United Nations (UN), more than one million people across Lebanon have fled due to the ongoing deadly Israeli airstrikes across the country.

Lebanon’s public health ministry said 37 people had been killed in ground and air attacks in the last 24 hours while 151 others had been wounded.

Elsewhere, the Lebanese army said two of its soldiers had been killed in the country’s south as Israeli forces pressed on with their invasion against Hezbollah and ordered another 20 towns and villages to evacuate.
