Police in the Eastern Region have begun investigations into an incident involving a driver of a Ford Escape vehicle who knocked down two young ladies resulting in the death of one.
The two, Rebecca Osaebea Ntitsi, age 20, and Belinda Ntitsi, age 22 who are siblings, were crossing a section of the Asuatwene road near Adeiso in the Upper West Akim District when they were knocked down by the vehicle with registration number GE-8826-11, driven by Kwabena Attefa Acheampong.
The vehicle was heading to Accra from Akim Oda.

The victims, who sustained various degrees of injury were rushed to the Adieso Health Center where Rebecca Osaebea Ntitsi was pronounced dead on arrival.
Confirming the incident to Citi News, the Eastern Region Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, said the suspect is in police custody assisting with investigations.
“On July 31st at about 9:21 pm, a suspect driver Kwabena Attefa Acheampong, was driving a Ford Escape car with registration number GE 8826-11 from Akim Oda towards Accra direction, on reaching Asuatwene township he knocked down the two female adults”.

“Both were rushed to Adeiso Health Centre, but Rebecca was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival and Berlinda was referred to Ashonmang Community Hospital for further treatment. The body of the deceased has been sent to Nsawam Government Hospital for autopsy and preservation”.
DSP Tetteh added that the “Suspect driver, Kwabena Attefa Acheampong is in custody whiles the accident vehicle has been towed to the station to assist us with our investigations”.
