Managing Director of Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BEST), formerly BOST, Dr. Edwin Alfred Provencal, has opened up on some factors that accounted for its losses.
According to him, about 30 to 40 staff over a period of three to four years received salaries for no work done.
Dr Provencal disclosed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, although he did not provide details on the years in question and the specific depots the crime was committed.
“Three out of our six depots were not operational but there were staff there who were going to work every day and were being paid salaries for no work done. So for 3 to 4 years, people were going to work but the depot was not operation.
“The depots were decommissioned so no fuel was being transported for storage and onward sale but about 30 to 40 staff were going to work and received salaries,” he said.
Despite this loss, Dr Provencal said he takes pride in the fact that the BOST story has changed.
From a virtually hopeless situation, he stated that, they can now boost of significant profits now and have paid off all debts.
