A footballer who stabbed a 14-year-old girl after he attempted to have sex with her, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Elijah Boadu, 18 years, is alleged to have stabbed the victim in her right shoulder and lower abdomen with a knife and escaped.
Boadu has been charged with unlawful entry, causing harm and an attempt to commit crime to wit defilement.
He pleaded guilty to the charges and the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin Doku convicted him on his own plea.
The court however deferred sentence to January 2, next year awaiting a social inquiry report which is to be considered by the court.
According to the court the accused person’s face looked younger though he had informed it that he was 18 years.
He has therefore been remanded into a Remand Home.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police Agnes Boafo said the victim and Boadu resides at Odorkor Official Town.
On December 10, this year, at about 0230 hours, while the victim was asleep in her room, the accused entered it.
The Prosecution said the accused sat on the victim’s thighs and attempted to have sex with her.
“The victim refused and started shouting for help. The accused person then stabbed the victim in her left shoulder and lower abdomen with a knife and escaped.”
The prosecution said the shouts of the victim woke up her uncle who then chased the accused person, who in haste left behind his torn boxer shorts.
The Prosecution said the suspect was later arrested around the victim’s house and handed over to the Police while a medical form was issued to the victim to seek medical attention.
