Bibiani GoldStars coach, Frimpong Manso has urged Otto Addo to prioritize qualifying for the 2026 World Cup over the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Manso’s comments follow the Black Stars’ disappointing performance in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers.
After four matches, Ghana is third in Group F with just two points, having recorded two draws and two losses, putting their chances of qualifying for the tournament in jeopardy.
“We should forget about qualifying for the 2025 AFCON and instead focus on making it to the 2026 World Cup,” Manso, who is a former Ghana international told Akoma FM.
Manso also questioned the commitment level of the current players and urged Otto Addo to only invite players who are ready to die playing for the country.
“With this group, we should have qualified easily without needing to rely on complex calculations. Our team lacks the commitment to truly give their all for the nation.
“Otto Addo should drop any players who are unwilling to play because, given their recent performances, our local players can do better,” he added.
The Black Stars are set to resume their AFCON qualifying campaign in November, facing Angola and Niger in the final two matches.
