Flee from bloated cans – FDA warns as it schools Ghanaians on labeling regulations

-

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has schooled Ghanaian consumers on what to look out for when purchasing products.

Chief Regulatory Officer at the Food Enforcement Department, FDA, Maria Lovelace Johnson on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Friday, cautioned the public on ‘Best Before’ dates on products.

According to her, the Sunlight expires consumables on the market before the given ‘Best Before’ dates by manufacturers.

She said products such as canned foods and cosmetics should, therefore, not be exposed to direct sun rays as the enzymes that keep products from expiring before the stipulated date get destroyed.

Among the things to look out for, she said, are the list of ingredients, best before date or expiry date, net content, batch number, country of origin and the name of the manufacture or distributor.
