Hot audio: 'Fishermen in Central region now eat fried rice and jollof at sea'

-

Fishermen especially in the Central region don’t consume their own catch due to use of poisonous substance for fishing.
They rather buy fried rice, jollof or fish from town before going to fishing and sell the poisonous fish to indigenes.
Paramount chief of the Edina Traditional Area, Nana Kwadwo Conduah XI revealed this on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Friday.
He said the use of unauthorized fishing methods such as Carbide, DDT, dynamite, formalin among others are not only harmful to human life but that of aquatic life as well.
The fishing industry in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem municipality, Nana Conduah XI noted has collapsed as a result of the harmful fishing methods adopted by the fishermen.
As an immediate measure, the chief said they have resorted to curses to stop practices since according to him, all avenues for the fishermen to stop the dangerous and unhealthy fishing practices have proven futile.
Nana Kwadwo Conduah XI is convinced the move will help the country derive the best from aquaculture while safeguarding the health of the citizenry.
