President Akufo-Addo has assured that the first phase of the Suame interchange project will be completed by the end of 2024.
He noted that, work has begun on the main interchange project, emphasizing his government’s commitment to timely completion in response to persistent complaints from motorists in the area.
He highlighted strategic projects such as the dualisation of the Ofankor-Nsawam road and the Adenta road, stressing that these are not merely infrastructure projects but also confirmations of the government’s approach to solving real-life challenges.
“The Akufo-Addo government remains focused on its commitment to dualising of roads in densely populated areas along our major corridors. A key initiative to demonstrate our dedication to decongesting these vital regions,” the President stated.
“The strategic projects we’re initiating such as the dualisation of the Ofankor-Nsawam road, and the Adenta road, are not merely infrastructure projects, it’s also a confirmation of the government’s approach to solving real-life challenges.
“Government is committed to replicate such successful initiatives along other corridors of the region such as Suame Roundabout to Tafo-Pankrono…Another important project in the region is the construction of the Suame Interchange, the project is progressing steadily.
The President also noted significant progress on the Suame Interchange project, mentioning that the overpass on the Offinso road, Anomangye-Magazine road, Abusuakurowa, and 15 kilometres of the road around the Suame roundabout is approximately 40% complete.
“The overpass on the Offinso road, Anomangye-Magazine road, Abusuakurowa, as well as 15 kilometres of the road around Suame roundabout are some 40% complete. It is programmed that these overpasses will be successfully completed before the end of this year,” he added.
President Akufo-Addo made these assurances while inaugurating the commencement of a 20-kilometre dualisation of the Anhwiankwanta-Ahenema Kokoben road.
“The dualisation of the Ahenema Kokoben road is part of measures to improve the conditions of the road network in the Ashanti Region. These measures are targeted at reducing travel times, lowering vehicle operating cost and improving safety,” he stated.
He directed the contractors to implement safety measures to alleviate the stress on motorists during the construction period.
