The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced a rescheduling of the inaugural direct flight from London Gatwick to the Kumasi Prempeh I International Airport, initially slated for December 3, 2024.
In a press release, GACL cited the short notice as the reason for the delay, stating that the flight will now arrive later this week.
The new service, launched in collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines, marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity between Ghana and the United Kingdom, with Kumasi becoming the destination of Ghana’s first direct international flight outside Accra.
While the exact new date for the first flight’s arrival has yet to be disclosed, GACL reassured the public that the second scheduled flight, set for December 15, 2024, will proceed as planned.
The initiative reflects GACL’s efforts to expand air travel options and bolster regional development.
This direct service is expected to strengthen tourism, trade, and investment opportunities for Kumasi and its surrounding regions.
Travelers and stakeholders have been advised to stay updated on developments through GACL’s official communication channels.
