Fire guts shops at Kejetia market again

-

Kejetia Market experienced another fire outbreak in the early hours of Tuesday, February 12, 2025, affecting two commercial shops.

The incident, which occurred at 3:50 a.m., involved shops known for selling chemicals, fabrics, and coat linings.

The fire was initially contained by the market’s fire patrol team and security guards using dry chemical powder extinguishers and water.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) arrived at the scene and swiftly took over the operation.

The flames were brought under control and fully extinguished within an hour.

Thanks to the team’s intensified patrols and tactical firefighting efforts, the fire was prevented from spreading beyond the two affected shops.

Out of 25 shops at risk, 23 were salvaged, averting a major disaster.

This latest incident comes just weeks after a similar fire outbreak hit the market on January 24, 2025.

Fortunately, no casualties were recorded, although the two shops sustained partial damage.
