Fire destroys teachers’ flats at Toase SHS

A catastrophic fire has ravaged four teachers’ flats at Toase Senior High School, located in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of Ashanti Region.

The blaze, which broke out in the afternoon, reportedly went on for hours unattended to despite alerts to the district’s fire station.

Residents reported making multiple attempts to contact the fire station in Nkawie, but were informed that the fire truck had been out of service for over a month and was awaiting repairs.

The absence of an operational fire vehicle significantly delayed response efforts, allowing the fire to spread rapidly and cause substantial damage.

The affected facilities include four room, bathroom, among other amenities

The exact cause remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, the community is grappling with the aftermath, with affected teachers now displaced.

Residents continue to express their frustration over the delayed fire services response.
