Finance Minister to present 2025 budget today

-

The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, will present his first budget to Parliament today, March 11, 2025.

The budget will outline the state of the economy and the government’s policy proposals aimed at resetting and transforming Ghana’s economic trajectory in line with President John Mahama’s vision.

Earlier, the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, stated that the budget’s policies will be shaped by recommendations from the National Economic Dialogue, which took place on March 3 and 4, 2025.

With the country still grappling with high debt levels, inflation, and unemployment, Ghanaians are expecting Dr. Forson to announce strategies that will provide relief to businesses and households.

Expectations are also high regarding the removal of several taxes, including the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), the COVID-19 Levy, and the Betting Tax.

Meanwhile, the Minority has hinted at plans to resist the introduction of any new taxes as they demand that the Mahama-led government stick to its promise to reduce the tax burdens on Ghanaians.
