Finance Minister presents GHS 68 billion mini-budget to parliament

-

The Finance Minister, Dr. Amin Adam, has officially presented the first quarter of 2025 budget to Parliament.

This provisional budget, amounting to GHS 68 billion, is designed to ensure the government’s operations from January to March while awaiting the incoming administration’s full budget presentation.

The mini-budget has been referred to the Budget Committee for review before the House deliberates on its approval.

In his presentation, Dr. Amin Adam expressed hope for a swift endorsement, emphasizing its critical role in sustaining the state’s activities and ensuring a smooth transition of governance.

This allocation will cater to essential expenditures, including the inauguration of the President-elect, the election of the Speaker for the 9th Parliament, public sector salaries, and other state operations.

It is worth noting that an earlier mini-budget presented in October 2024 failed to gain approval due to disagreements over parliamentary majority claims.

As the 8th Parliament prepares to dissolve, the passage of this mini-budget is seen as pivotal in laying a stable foundation for the upcoming administration and facilitating the nation’s smooth governance in the new year.
