The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has defended the 2025 Budget Statement, calling it a people-centred document aimed at addressing the economic challenges facing Ghana and improving citizens’ welfare.
Speaking at the close of the debate on the 2025 Budget on Tuesday, 25 March, Dr. Forson highlighted that the government has taken significant steps to alleviate economic pressures and stimulate growth.
He emphasized that the policies outlined in the budget are designed to provide relief, create jobs, and enhance economic stability.
“This budget is not just figures on paper; it is a comprehensive plan to address the real concerns of Ghanaians. We have listened, and we are responding with practical solutions,” he stated.
The Finance Minister also pointed to key interventions, including increased investments in infrastructure, social welfare, and economic empowerment initiatives. He assured that the government had already begun implementing measures to stabilise the economy and improve livelihoods.
“The problems of this country did not arise overnight, but we have begun the process of resolving them systematically and sustainably,” he said.
Dr. Forson urged both Parliament and the public to support the government’s efforts, stressing that national development requires collective commitment.
He concluded by reiterating the administration’s dedication to transparency and accountability, saying, “This budget reflects our determination to put the people first, and we will ensure its successful execution for the benefit of all Ghanaians.”
