FIFA Rankings: Black Stars drop again, sit 14th in Africa

-

The Black Stars of Ghana have experienced a decline in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola rankings, falling three spots from 70th to 73rd globally following a winless October international window.

The four time African champions now occupy the 14th position on the African continent.

This drop in ranking follows a disappointing performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, where the team registered a draw and a defeat against Sudan earlier this month.

Previously, Ghana had also slipped to 70th in September due to similar results against Angola and Niger.

Meanwhile, Ghana is at risk of missing the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco, as they remain winless in Group F of the qualifiers.

In contrast, Comoros, Ghana’s opponents in the World Cup qualifiers, made significant gains, climbing ten places in the global rankings.

Argentina continues to hold the top position, with France, Spain, England, and Brazil rounding out the top five.

In Africa, Morocco leads the rankings, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria, and Algeria. Ghana’s next challenge will be against Angola and Niger in the final round of the qualifiers next month.
