Female dancehall artiste, Shegah, is in the news for saying female dancehall acts do not last in the music industry.
Expressing her worries in an interview with Zylofon FM’s Empress Neeta, the dancehall artiste said, “it worries me a lot because if you are a musician you should have concerns about your industry and if you have love for the industry, you should be bothered. Its like we are working but there is something we are not doing. For me, each and every day I try to learn especially from my mistakes and I listen to advice too a lot.

Ebony went off the scene, Kakie also went down for her own reasons. I mean she was schooling before she started the music and besides there are artistes that have not released songs and albums but then their work is still on radio and everywhere and they are doing their own stuff so the whole thing has to do with why female artistes keep going down the drain. If Ebony didn’t die, probably the same thing would have happened to her and it worries me a lot.”

Shegah, real name Mildred Mark Hansen, was a founding member of the first female hiplife group in Ghana called Triple M. The group gained mainstream attention when they released the popular track Koti.
