Afena-Gyan first gained attention at AS Roma, where he made a strong impression by scoring six goals in just five matches for the club’s Primavera (U-19) team.
He made his Serie A debut in October 2021 and quickly made history later that month by scoring twice against Genoa, becoming the first player born in 2003 to score in the league.
This performance earned him a contract extension with Roma, intended to keep him at the club until 2026.
However, in August 2022, he moved to Cremonese, where consistent playing time proved elusive. He managed to score three goals and provide one assist in 36 appearances.
The move to Juventus Next Gen, competing in Serie C Group C, is seen as a chance for Afena-Gyan to reignite his career.
He will play his home games at Stadio La Marmora-Pozzo in Biella, where he hopes to rediscover his form and make a significant impact.
