FDA warns consumers over ‘Best Before’ dates on products [Audio]

The Food and Drugs Authority is warning consumers to be careful of ‘Best Before’ dates on food products in the country.

According to Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Delese Darko, the dates on most of these products are ‘questionable’ due to varying climates between countries of manufacture and tropics such as Ghana.

This changes the true shelf life of the said products.

The CEO advised consumers to go beyond dates in checking whether such products are wholesome or not.

She was speaking at a stakeholders meeting to deliberate on the FDA’s new guidelines on processed food products.
