The African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament began on Friday, June 21, 2019 in Egypt and includes all countries on the African continent that qualified in the various matches played prior to the main event.
On June 25, 2019, Ghana played its opening match in the tournament against Benin which kept every individual tensed up due to the past performances of the Blacks Stars in similar tournaments.
As the Black Stars gear up for the final game in the group stage against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday after drawn games against Cameroun and Benin, expectations are very high because the Stars usually don’t struggle to qualify from the group stage.
A cross-section of sporting fans, who shared their views with Adomonline, said they have lost faith in the Black Stars over what they described as their “disheartening” performances at the 2019 AFCON.
“The hype about this AFCON isn’t there like how it used to be, I wasn’t so happy about the performance of the Black Stars, straight from the coach down to the technical team then to the players.
“For the upcoming match against Guinea-Bissau, they should prove us wrong by winning the game and not a draw,” some of the fans said.
Others, who shared their views, said “the last match must be entirely different because we are greatly disappointed in the players and do not know what to hope for.”
