A family of over 40 has been displaced after a devastating fire razed their 13-bedroom house, destroying their lifetime investment, personal belongings, and a sum of over ₵401,000 in cash.
The tragic incident occurred last Saturday at Seikwa, a town located in the Tain District, in the Bono region, leaving the affected family with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Speaking to Adom News, Francis Obour, the landlord, recounted the heartbreaking loss, stating that the fire consumed everything in its path, including money, essential documents, and household items.
His wife, Alice Obour, tearfully explained that the family is now relying on the generosity of friends and neighbors for shelter and basic needs.
She added that the fire has severely impacted their children’s education, as they have lost their school supplies and uniforms.
According to the NADMO Director for the Tain District, Andrews Oppong, preliminary assessments indicate that the family will require between ₵300,000 and ₵500,000 to rebuild, as a significant portion of the house is beyond repair.
He has appealed to the government, charitable organizations, and individuals to come to the family’s aid.
Meanwhile, investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
