Fake soldier not part of Veep’s convoy – Police

Police in the Ashanti Region say the 23-year-old man who faked himself as a soldier in the region was not part of the security detail of the Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia.
Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah said the young man was at an Islamic event where Dr. Bawumia was the guest of honour.

Sissey Ibrahim was busted on Sunday by the security detail of the Veep at around 11:30 am Sunday in full military wear.
The demeanor of the suspect who claims to be a student of University of Ghana, Legon made the security team suspicious of the man for which reason they accosted him for a brief interrogation, leading to the discovery that he was a fake soldier.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Monday, COP Ken Yeboah said the suspect pleaded guilty to his offense.
He indicated that, Sissey Ibrahim confessed to the Police that the uniforms belonged to his elder brother, Sargent Zakari Ibrahim of 5BN Burma Camp who is presently on Peacekeeping Operations in Lebanon.

Cop Ken Yeboah said the suspect is still in their custody assisting in investigations.
