A two million worth 18 –unit storey building for Ebenezer Senior High School (SHS) at Dansoman in Accra has been left to rot.
The project, started by the erstwhile John Kufuor administration in 2007, was meant to convert the day school to boarding.

But, successive governments failed to finish the project which was 90 percent complete.
Adom News’ Kodwo Mensah Aboroampa, who visited the school, reported that, weeds had overgrown around the building, with the nets and louvers covering its windows worn out.
Even more worrying, he said, was students who live far away from the school struggle to get hostels which are at cut-throat prices.

A school management member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the structure had stalled for the past 12 years due to lack of funding from the government.
Site Engineer, Joe Fletcher expressed worry about failure by successive governments to complete such an important project.

As an old student of Ebenezer SHS, he was very elated at government’s decision to add boarding facility but that could not see the light of day when the Kufuor administration ended its term of office.
Mr Fletcher said given the infrastructural challenges facing the school, the old students are ready to support the government to finish the project.
