Fabewoso: Auctioneer hot after selling Mitsubishi Pickup for GH₵700 [Video]

-

An auctioneer has been indicted in the 2017 Auditor General’s Report for selling a Mitsubishi Pick-up for GH₵700.00.

Mr Jacob Kumah Agboyibor, Chief Executive Officer of Love Is Key Mart allegedly auctioned the Pick-up with registration number GV 1337-Q with new engine belonging to the Central Tongu District Education Office to Robert Quarcoo at that paltry sum.

The issue became even murkier when Mr Agboyibor again sold another Mitsubishi Pick-up with registration number GV 1336Q with new engine to Patrick Agbovi at GH₵1000.00.

The Auditor General among other things noted that the auction was not advertised as required by section 83 of Public Procurement Act, making the auction unknown to interested persons.

The report concluded that the basis of the sale given the circumstances is doubtful.

In a rebuttal, Jacob Kumah Agboyibor on Adom FM’s anti-corruption show, Fabewoso denied any wrongdoing.

He said the auction price was approved by Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare, thus he cannot be held liable.

Mr Agboyibor said there are a lot of inaccuracies in the Auditor General’s Report because he advertised the auction in many newspapers including the Ghanaian Times.

Director of Political Affairs at the Office of the Chief of Staff, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, said the office does not determine auction prices.

He explained that the administrative wing of the presidency handles such transactions to ensure due diligence is done.

Mr Bekoe stressed that Chief of Staff; Madam Frema Osei Opare has nothing to do with the auctioning of the Mitsubishi Pick-ups.
