Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Wilson Arthur, has expressed hopes of securing radio and television rights deals as the new Ghana football season approaches.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) recently concluded its partnership with StarTimes, the former rights holder for the FA Cup, following the end of the 2023/24 football season.
Arthur emphasized that generating sufficient revenue through domestic competitions is crucial for enhancing the overall quality of the tournament and attracting more fans than in previous years.
“This year, we are hoping that there will be radio rights, there will be TV rights so all those will bring in some revenue,” said Arthur on the sidelines at the GFA’s 30th Ordinary Congress.
“All the matches will be promoted. Football is showbiz; when you don’t promote it and you just show up and play, it’s not the same.
“So we will improve on the promotion of the matches and players so they feel like stars and perform like stars,” he added.
Nsoatreman FC claimed the 2023/24 FA Cup title last season, defeating their regional rivals Bofoakwa Tano in the final held at the University of Ghana Stadium.
