Former Aduana Stars striker Yahaya Mohammed has opposed the possible extension of the term limit for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidency.
In recent weeks, multiple reports have emerged suggesting that the statutes review committee of the GFA has proposed to the Executive Council to extend the term of office for the presidency, which currently limits presidents to two terms.
The proposal has attracted criticism, and Mohammed, speaking in an interview, said the possible decision to extend the term of office is unnecessary.
“At this moment, extending the term limit of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidency is not needed,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show. “I believe that if this must be done, it must be based on the work the president has done, and for me, the club administrators must come out and speak because, at this moment, that is not what is needed.”
“I know Kudjoe Fianoo has spoken against it, and I expect others to also come out to speak against it because it is not needed at the moment,” he added.
Meanwhile, former chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has vowed to resist any attempt to extend the term of office of the presidency.
